CONYERS, ga – Rockdale County Tax Commissioner RJ Hadley, Sheriff Eric Levett and Cindy Mahaffey, mother of fallen Rockdale Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Mahaffey, surprised Deputy Mahaffey’s father, Terry, with a special license plate for Christmas. The license plate with Deputy Mahaffey’s badge number, 2330, along with the designation DAD was given to Terry in a surprise ceremonial unveiling on Friday, Dec. 11 at 11:30 a.m. at the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office, 911 Chambers Drive in Conyers.
Deputy Mahaffey’s mother, brother and sister each have the special plates – 2330MOM, 2330BRO and 2330SIS—in honor of the deputy who was killed in the line of duty in 2010 while serving a warrant in Rockdale. The family had been trying unsuccessfully for years to obtain the plate for Deputy Mahaffey’s father and reached out to Tax Commissioner Hadley for help. Hadley consulted with state motor vehicle officials and after two months was able to secure the plate.
