The Olde Town Conyers community continues to grow with another new business – Soul Yoga and Wellness Studio. Its owner, Conyers native Lisa Poole moved in adjacent to her husband Craig’s “The Guitar Shoppe” and has created a space where women can focus on their own total personal wellness.
As Lisa (she made me promise not to call her Ms. Poole) relates, “Having been involved in a teaching environment for over fourteen years, in both public and private elementary school systems, I wanted to offer small classes, usually less than eight people, where women can come to focus on not just their physical bodies, but also their spirits and minds.”
Lisa’s education and experience as a professional school teacher and certifications in Massage Therapy, Aromatherapy, Esthetics and Yoga, as well as her past health crisis have molded the concept, design, format and content of classes as well as the studio’s environment.
In 2006 she was diagnosed with a cancer that typically has only a 4% survival rate, but took her physician’s advice to believe that she would overcome the disease. It was during the months of her treatment phase that she wondered why cancer had chosen to attack her. Through research she discovered the book “You Can Heal Your Life” by Louise Hay which not only changed her life . . . she’s convinced it was instrumental in saving it.
“I wanted to know why I had cancer, and after reading the book, I knew that I had created a physical, spiritual and mental place that attracted cancer. Now I had to follow the information in the book to rid my body of that disease.” She has been free of cancer since 2007.
When entering the facility, even I felt a sense of immediate relaxation and the sensation of a getting a deep breath of fresh air. No kidding! Lisa added, “Since my cancer experience, my passion has been to educate and inspire women in unlocking the key to personal wellness, which is bringing the body, mind, and spirit into balance. I’ve designed my studio and classes to do just that.”
