On the final day of the academic year, fourth and fifth grades presented their students with the yearly honors. For fourth grade, Bailey Mobley received the highest overall yearly average and Brody Bush was the second highest. Mobley and fifth grade student, Savannah Stanton, received the “Yearly Special Distinction” certificates for earning 95% and above in all their classes.
“Yearly Headmaster List” certificates for earning all A’s in fourth grade were presented to Brody Bush, Sean Davis, Rhett Harris, Ashley Porker, Ridge Stroud, and Jake Vaughn. Fifth graders included Abigail Arnold and Joe Clark.
“Yearly Honor Roll” certificates designated the student earned all A’s and no more than two B’s in their yearly average. The fourth grade recipients included: McKayla Arnold, Callie Brannan, Maggie Johnson, Rep Morton, and Becky Leigh Wilson. In fifth grade, Haiden Crews, Stanton Harrison, and TJ White received certificates.
Students were also recognized for reading achievements. Accelerated Reader (AR) is a computer program that helps teachers manage and monitor students in grades K5 through 12 for independent reading practice. The student picks a book at their point level and reads it at their own pace. When finished, the student takes a short quiz on the computer. By passing the quiz, it is an indication that the student understood what they read. AR gives both students and teachers feedback based on the quiz results where the teacher then uses the information to help the student set goals and direct ongoing reading practice.
Joining the “Million Word Club” included in fourth grade, Sean Davis, Rhett Harris, Maggie Johnson, and Ridge Stroud. In fifth grade, Savannah Stanton earned the most amount of words read.
The students earning the highest amount of earned points included Rhett Harris in fourth grade and Savannah Stanton in fifth grade. Their runner ups were Ridge Stroud and Stanton Harrison. For the highest test average in fourth were Ridge Stroud and Rep Morton. In fifth grade, recipients included Savannah Stanton and Abigail Arnold.
Readers who scored a yearly average of 90% or above on their book tests included in fourth grade, Rhett Harris, Maggie Johnson, and Jake Vaughn; and in fifth grade, Abagail Arnold, Haiden Crews, Stanton Harrison, Savannah Stanton, and TJ White.
